Organic gardening and environmental issues are very important to me and take up a lot of my time. I can usually be found out in my garden weeding, digging, planting and just caring for my organically grown crops- which taste fantastic.
My name is Bill Leach and I am a 59 year old retired ex-local authority gardener. My life is a bit of a busmans holiday now because, even after spending years working with plants and vegetables I still love to carry on my passion in my retirement. I love the fantastic flavours that I get from my organic vegetables and I put down my good health to eating a heart supply of them all year round. I now its awfully trendy to eat organic vegetables these days but I was growing spuds and carrots long before it became trendy.
I recently got excited about aquaponics when one of my ex-colleagues told me about this amazing way to grow vegetables with fish! I was hooked (groan another bad pun – sorry) but I read everything I could about this fascinating subject and then set to work building my own setup.
It wasnt easy and I learned a lot along the way. I have documented some of my experiences here and, yes I make the odd recommendation for some books to help you get further into the subject. After all, I have to fund my new hobby somehow. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this blog and find it interesting.
